Right the First Time - Volume 1
In the summer of 2003, Speeding Edge published the definitive technical publication on high-speed PCB and system design, a compilation of Lee Ritchey's 35 years of experience in designing high-speed systems ranging from network interface cards to supercomputers and the backplanes used in current network servers and terabit routers. Entitled, "Right the First Time, A Practical Handbook for High Speed PCB and System Design, Volume 1,"the book addresses all aspects of the design process including the physics behind high-speed design such as transmission line management, cross talk management and EMI control. It contains a special section on power system design written by John Zasio, long time professional collaborator with Lee Ritchey. The book is written to be as thorough and comprehensive as possible while still being eminently readable. Volume 1 is now available on CD-ROM for $25 per copy. When purchasing Volume 2, Volume 1 as a CD-ROM is available free of charge!
Right the First Time - Volume 2
Volume 2 of Right The First Time, A Practical Handbook on High Speed PCB and System Design was published in the spring of 2007. While Volume 1 addressed the fundamentals of high-speed PCB and system design, Volume 2 provides a detailed explanation of all the steps involved in designing and manufacturing a printed circuit board that works right the first time. Designed for engineering as well as business decision makers, it provides a thorough treatment of the processes involved in fabricating complex PCBs. It includes a detailed description of the PCB fabrication process; PCB material selection; EMI and EMC; Gigabit and higher signaling issues; the PCB design process; power delivery details; testing, simulation and simulators and IC package design.
In 2004, Speeding Edge launched its quarterly, subscriber-based newsletter, Current Source. The newsletter is an adjunct to the company´s "Right The First Time, A Practical Handbook On High-Speed PCB and System Design, Volume 1 "and is designed to provide up-to-date information on the issues and concerns facing today´s high-speed PCB and system designers. Each issue of Current Source will contain at least one major feature article on a current design concern; a section on tool tips and usage; a frequently asked questions and answer section as well as information on upcoming classes taught by Lee Ritchey. The basis for the contents of all the foregoing elements is derived from the input and requests received by Speeding Edge. The content will also reflects information that is gained from the company´s on-going engineering consulting activities.
